Frame your memories or frames as art
Work, work, work! It’s been over a week since my last blog post and I have been one busy bee. I am in much need of the vacation I have planned with my girlfriends over the weekend. But not before I share a little something with you all! If your like me you have many photos, artwork, and memories you like to display. The process of choosing frames, art or picture size, matt color, and placement can be quite challenging and also can become boring from time to time. So... I say mix it up!
After seeing what our visual merchandiser here @ work has done with one of our walls shown to the right and even what Urban Outfitters has done with just hanging empty frames as artwork on their wall I was eager to imply this decorative feature to one of my projects and that’s just what I’m doing with one of the walls we had painted blue in the last project I blogged about. Here are some fun images of picture galleries and frames I have found to get more of a feel for the concept and pull ideas.
Add framed artwork to bring out your pop colors
Display frames stacked on top of each other to add demention and interest
Add a fun color behind your picture gallery

Happy framing! :)

My other job
As some of you might know... A couple months ago shortly after I got hired at Jonathan Adler I also got hired as an assistant/junior designer by interior designer and artist Nathan Fischer of Stiles Fischer Interior Design, Laguna Beach. Here is a little perspective/rendering of the first project we did together. I drew the perspective and Nathan did the rendering.
Yesterday was the beginning of installing part of the design concept we came up with. Which means painters, electricians, furniture delivery, window covering installation, and a house in disarray. Here’s a little peek of how the space looked yesterday. I’m excited to see the finished product! But along with me you all will have to wait about a month or so. Stay tuned...

Love me some PINK
I love me some pink! But not in a childish girly way… I love pink tulips, pink toenails, or when a guy dares to wear pink, I even ordered myself a new pink laptop today :) If used just right pink can be grown up, glamorous, and sophisticated. I myself even painted the wall behind my bed a shade of pale pink. Add the right accessories and tada… you’ve got yourself a chic lookin space. In the spirit of Valentines Day I’ll show you a couple of pink interiors I have come across just to prove my point.
Does this make you wanna go out and buy a can of paint? Excellent! Everyone needs a little pink in their life. If color is too bold of a move for you then start small with pillows or accessories. Check out the cutest little shop I came across last year nestled in San juan capistrano a block down the street from the old mission on Camino Capistrano called Studio Pink. This shop is too die for!
Flowers are always welcome in my book but who needs chocolates (they make you fat) and teddy bears (cheezy)... Instead gift in pink accesories so the one you love can be surrounded in the color of admiration:) Happy Valentines Day everyone! xoxo

The new bond collection at Jonathan Adler
Whenever the UPS guy arrives with boxes here at work it’s an exciting day! I knew about the new bond furniture collection that Jonathan Adler came out with but hadn’t seen it in person. Let me just tell you… pictures don’t do this collection justice. The pieced burled wood, lucite, and stainless steel accents make this collection glamorous and sexy! Shown above is the console table that we received today… It looks amazing against our white wall with some pottery and our tortoise lamps on both sides that illuminate the wall. The collection also includes an end table and desk. If you are a minimalist and want something sleek and fresh this is the collection for you!

Welcome to Mai Designs
Hello friends, family, and strangers! After long consideration and some encouragement from friends I have finally decided to start my own design blog. Through working at Jonathan Adler and as a junior designer I fall in love with new product and different design elements every day. As a little girl my dad filled my head with the idea of becoming an interior designer and the idea grew into my obsession with being surrounded by pretty things. I plan on sharing things that inspire me, projects I work on, ideas, and anything interior design related that moves me. So from my desk to yours I hope you all will enjoy along side me this design blog journey.
