Thanksgiving

Gobble gobble! I hope everyone had a lovely thanksgiving eating good food surrounded by family and friends. Just thought I would use the past holiday to share a pic and list a couple things that I am thankful for..

Like the Geek Squad at Best Buy because they took the virus off of my computer which brings me back to blogging and all else computer related :) Other things on my "I'm thankful for.." list are my parents, my furry best friend Biddie, growing up on Kauai, and true friends.
Thank you Spoondles Chef Leela for preparing a fabulous Thanksgiving feast! Oh and one last thing... Nothing beats burning off a huge turkey dinner like a living room dance party!!! -Eat, Drink, and Be Merry

Aloha from the new St. Regis Princeville Kauai

I'm so fortunate to have grow up in one of the most beautiful places on earth! I just returned from a short but sweet trip from where I was born and raised. The beautiful North Shore of Kauai :) Rain or shine this place is paradise. With such picturesque outdoor surroundings one rarely pays attention to what interiors Kauai has to offer. The newest place of interest just so happens to be 2 minutes down the road from where my parents live. Take a look..
Whenever I'm home on Kauai I always end up at the St. Regis Hotel formally known as the Princeville Hotel whether it is for Sunday Brunch or just passing by on my morning run. As one drives up your first sight is the front fountain which looks spectacular. Always greeted with an Aloha and a purple orchid lei one instantly feels properly welcomed.
After passing through this hall one gets their first view of the grand lobby and the amazing view behind it.
One cant disagree that the decor is most definitely an upgrade from the old Princeville Hotel.
Very lucky guests wake up to a million dollar view from just about every room.
The St. Regis has a gorgeous pool, amazing spa, and many restaurants to choose from to satisfy any pallet.
Kauai Grill located just below the grand lobby doesn't have an original name but from what Ive heard serves up a more than original menu one is sure not to forget.
Located at the far right tip of Hanalei bay with the golf course and tennis courts nearby as well as perfect rights breaking on the outer reef in front of the hotel makes the St. Regis a vacationers heaven.
The perfect way to end the day is to enjoy a drink and small bite to eat at the bar/lounge area where one can take in a breath taking sunset while listening to live entertainment such as the "Sunday afternoon jazz jam"
I already miss you Kauai!
~Aloha~
Until we meet again.

Bigger and Better

Exciting things are around the corner for Jonathan Adler Fashion Island. We are expanding! Shooting to open September 1, 2010. Ive seen the floor plans and some of the materials that will be in the interior and all I have to say is that this space is going to be amazing! JA Fashion Island will be the largest store in the company and will showcase all the "Happy Chic" we have to offer.

Strike!

Martini's and bowling? After attending a work related event with my coworker this past Saturday evening I decided to stick around and go out with her and her posse. We ended up heading over to Strike bowling alley at The District in Tustin. Bowling has never really been my thing but in the past Ive found that with the right group it can be fun... How about with the right drink selection, decor, service, and music?!?? With all those elements combined, bowling equals a blast!
I of course had my preconceived notions on how the space was going look but boy was I surprised! Check out the interior below...
The space offers 30 lanes of glow in the dark bowling and comfortable booths. These color's scream fun!
A full sports bar and lounge serves a tasty menu with specialty martinis such as the delicious fuji apple martini and raspberry lychee lemon drop. Yummm..
Surfboards hanging on the wall couldn't be more proper for an Orange County bowling alley.
The space also has an arcade where on can enjoy a game of ski ball or shoot some hoops. On top of it all there is a live DJ that plays a great mix of music from 50 cent and Michael Jackson, to hip dance music and old school favorites avoiding the typical R&B club mix. After trading in our hideous bowling shoes we danced the night away in the middle of the walk way with some friends we made that shared the same enthusiasm about the place.

5stars for Strike from me... They did an awesome job at providing a variety of fun in a swanky atmosphere. I shall return.

Sex and the City II

On Wednesday I got a sneak peek at the interiors of Sex and the City II on elledecor.com and on Thursday evening I got to see it for myself on the big screen. My favorite line in the movie... "I've been cheating on fashion with furniture" quote Carrie Bradshaw. The worst part of the movie... Carrie calling the sofa a couch multiple times though out the film! I have to admit the movie was a bit overdone and the wardrobe was a little outrageous but the interiors of this film from Big and Carries apartment to a Moroccan-themed hotel were just perfect! Below are a few images courtesy  of elledecor.com.

It isn't a Carrie Bradshaw apartment without a fabulous closet!
Wallpaper by Lee Jofa and headboard fabric by Kravet
Kitchen tiles from Ann Sacks

Sex ad the City opened nationwide on Thursday the 27th. Even though the movie was a little overdone this still is a must see. So get your girlfriends together, have a cosmo if you will and enjoy!

Presentation is Key

Just a quick post to let you know whats going on in Mai kitchen. A new shipment hit Jonathan Adler just recently and I fell in love with the new Greek key motif dinnerware. So after payday I walked away with a set of six to replace the old with the fabulously new. This calls for a home cooked meal and dinner party!Presentation is definitely key. I was recently reminded by this while sipping Veuve Clicquot champagne out of a normal drinking glass rather than a flute. Just doesn't taste the same... My feeling is that I could warm up a TV dinner and serve it on these plates and I would enjoy it. That's how fab this new dinnerware is.

Oh and apparently I'm not the only one that thinks so. While flipping through the June issue of my favorite design magazine Elle Decor I came across my new plates on the What's Hot! page.

Check this hot item out at jonathanadler.com. There's also a super cute orange polka dot design that I almost went for but decided to go with classic rather than fun.

Bon appetite to me :)

The W Hotel Hollywood

Are there any advantages to sitting through LA rush hour on a Thursday morning only to get to your destination an hour early??? Yesss... Especially if you've run out of inspiration and nothing in the area you are from has visually stimulated you in a while. That is just what happened this morning to my fellow Jadleretts (Jonathan Adler girls) and I as we headed to our Melrose location for a meeting.

What is located in the heart of Hollywood and just around the corner from the star of the fabulous Audrey Hepburn? Actress from one of my favorite movies "Breakfast at Tiffany's" The new W Hotel which opened in January of this year.
The W is the perfect addition to the glamorous world of Los Angeles Hotels. The building stands tall with a demanding presence on the corner of Hollywood Blvd and Argyle Ave. with bright red glittery "W" signs.
The hotel interior was designed by Portland based designstudio.ltd while the suite interiors which are not shown on this post because I wasn't fortunate enough to stay were done by Los Angeles based Daly Genik. As you walk into the doors you instantly get a sense for the highly modern space which is luxurious and sophisticated with a clean style. Large sofa's adorn the space which make you feel comfortable and right at home.

What else does one need to feel completely at home while lounging on one of these sofas? A cocktail!

No need to worry about where to get one... The lobby features a fabulous marble top bar reminiscent of the green one the Parker Hotel has. I can only imagine how great it looks at night lit up and filled with life.

The most magnificent feature of the lobby lies to the very far end of the space which features a red spiral staircase wrapped around an ultra plush lounge area and glamorous glitzy hanging chandelier.

Whether you're at the W for business or pleasure the location and building offers practically everything one needs from a spa and fabulous cuisine to a nightclub scene and business centers. One doesn't even have to leave to experience Hollywood.

Hopefully I will return shortly for a stay or a fun night at Drai's nightclub so I can experience more than I did in the short 20min that we popped in.
Check out The W Hotel's website. Go Hollywood and treat yourself to a nights stay. Who says you need to be a celebrity to feel like one!! ;)

From drab to fab

My fabulous boss Jonathan on the CBS early morning show. Giving America a little tutorial on how to turn a space from drab to fab! Watch and take notes.
Turquoise is so my new color obsession!
Remember as we say here @ Jonathan Adler... Happiness is chic :)

Pilates Challenge

When business is slow it’s always nice when your name and information gets passed along a) because it shows that your work is good enough that people will vouch for you and b) because its money! Last week I had the pleasure of collaborating with designer Brittany Stiles of Brittany Stiles Interior Design to come up with a drawing for a future pilates studio. Here is the result of our mini project. I did the perspective and Brittany did the rendering.

Have you ever noticed how complex a pilates machine is? I didn’t until I was faced with the challenge of drawing 8 of these... You never know what you’re capable of until you are face with a challenge that you can’t turn back on. Now I need to step it up from the mat based pilates I occasionally do and test out one of these machines!

To achieve the highest accomplishments within the scope of our capabilities in all walks of life we must constantly strive to acquire strong, healthy bodies and develop our minds to the limits of our ability. -Joseph H. Pilates

Happy St. Patrick's Day

As I got dressed this morning I realized I'm not that big a fan of green. Hmmm... But I love green in nature! Maybe I just don't pay enough attention to it as I should. Of course I started to google after I had come to this realization. The final verdict... a little bit of green is not that bad after all.

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone. Be safe and enjoy your green beer but don't drink too much so your green in the face :)

Welcome to the Parker

If you haven’t been to The Parker Hotel in Palm Springs yet you just have to go! Haven’t heard of it? Let me educate you... This cute 131room boutique hotel on 13 acres was the former Melody Ranch of singing cowboy Gene Autry. If that name doesn’t ring a bell then maybe "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" or "Frosty the Snowman" does. Yes... those are songs written by Gene Autry. He was known for much more than Christmas songs though and also was owner of the Los Angeles Angels from 1961-1997. While staying at the Parker one can rent the restored and updated actual Gene Autry Residence! The way I came to know about the hotel was from its very own TV show called "Welcome to the Parker" which aired a few years back. And guess who the Interior Designer of the Parker is? The one and only Jonathan Adler :)

Almost 3 years ago my friends and I stayed at the Parker to celebrate my 25th birthday and this last Saturday I returned for a visit and some dinner after watching some tennis at the BNP Paribas Open. Although I enjoyed everything about the Parker the first time I was there this time it was a whole different experience for me after being employed by the designer.

The Parker is unlike any other hotel with its beautifully landscaped gardens sitting almost at the base of the desert mountains where room service is brought to you by bicycle. The grounds include 4 pools, hammocks, a croquet lawn, fire pits, tennis courts, and even a lemonade stand with ping pong tables. It was so much fun for me to explain everything I knew about this place to my long time middle school friend who came with me.

What makes more sense than hanging a key on the wall where everyone get's the key to their hotel room!? This reception desk displays a ceramic frieze showing cute characters illustrating what guests can expect on their stay at the parker. Sunshine being in the center and illustrations of a couple lounging and the words "Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow you shall check out"

Dinner at Mister Parker! Behind the blue velvet curtain is a groovy French restaurant where my friend and I enjoyed mustard encrusted rack of lamb, pancetta risotto, and gnocchi with roasted artichokes, olives, fennel, and tomato, parmesan while sipping on a glass of Cabernet.

The restaurant has a masculine feel from the wood paneling but the most important layer to the space is the collection of artwork on the walls which displays racy pop art.

I took so many pictures and could go on and on about this fabulous hotel. If you are intrigued I suggest you check out The Parker website and consider shelling out a little bit of cash to experience it for yourself.

Goodbye Parker Palm Springs until next time...
